Turkey’s First Rocket Competition Held by Roketsan

Within the scope of TEKNOFEST organized by Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) through September 20-23 in Istanbul, a Rocket Competition was held at the Hisar Launch Center in Akhisar, which was sponsored by Roketsan. 28 teams of high school and university students participated in the competition, which passed into history as the first successful rocket competition in Turkey, and the second in the world after USA. Students competed in low and high altitude categories. The competition was held with the aim of giving the young generations an opportunity to learn more about rocketry’s basic principles by experience. Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa VARANK and T3 Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Selçuk BAYRAKTAR watched the launching moments of rockets which were built by the competitors. Gökova Rocket Team from Gökova Adile Mermerci Anatolian High School ranked first in low altitude category and shared the first place with Selçuk Rocket Team from Konya Technical University, Space Technologies Community. Winning the first place in high altitude category as well, Selçuk Rocket Team went back to Konya with two prizes. The winners received their awards from President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN.
